Signing is the membership.

There is no ballot, no invitation, and no grade of membership to buy. Any jeweller willing to put their name to the Code in public can join, and it is free.

Who can join

Bench makers, independent shops, studios, repairers, online sellers, and businesses that do some of each. Any size, any country, any material. If you make, sell, set, repair or source jewellery as a trade, you are eligible.

The one thing membership requires is that you sign the Code in your own name and are content for that signature to be public and dated.

Send the form below
Tell us who you are and confirm you are committing to the Code. Nothing here is a test and there are no right answers.
Confirm your address
We send one email; you click the link in it. That is not a review and nobody is assessing you. It confirms the address is yours, which is what keeps the roster from filling with names their owners never put there.
Your name goes on the record
Business name, country and the date you signed. Your first annual restatement of progress is due twelve months later.

Fields marked required are the ones we cannot process an application without. Everything you send is used to consider your application and nothing else.

Business name The name you trade under. This one goes on the public roster, so write it the way you would want it read.

Registered name, if it differs Not published. Leave it empty if you trade under the name above.

Business registration number Optional, never published, and we do not check it against any register. It is here because it tells two shops with the same name apart. If you are a sole trader with no number, leave it empty: it changes nothing about your membership.

Website Or a social profile, if that is where your work lives.

What kind of jeweller are you?

How many people work in the business Counting yourself, and counting part-time. Not published. We ask because the association is built for small and mid-sized businesses and we would rather know when that stops being true.

Year the business started Optional, not published. Approximate is fine.

Why do you want to sign? Optional, and read by a person. A sentence is plenty.

Tell me when The Bench opens. It is the paid room for members who have nobody to delegate a new regulation to. It is not open, it is not priced, and ticking this commits you to nothing: it tells us there is a reason to build it, and you will be asked what it should hold before that is settled.

I have read the Code in full, and I commit, in my own name and on behalf of the business above, to all seven of its undertakings. I understand this commitment is recorded publicly with the date, and that the association does not inspect or assess my operations.

Of everything above, three things are ever published: the business name, the country, and the date. What we do with the rest.
